Their Eyes Were Watching God

Installing a post office

Joe, being the clever man that he is, decides to set up a store and a post office. A post office seems kind of random at first but then we realize that if a town has a post office, then the government recognizes it as an actual town and then there is government funding for the town, which of course will help the town grow. You can compare the government funding to the “roots” of a tree. The money will feed the town its nutrients (money) so it can grow branches and leaves (people and buildings and so on.)
