Janie admires Joe because he talks and dreams about change, and changing the world. However here it shows us that Joe doesn’t really like change. He doesn’t like getting used to the way things are and getting comfortable and then having it all taken away or altered because of change. This is ironic because the part of Joe that Janie admires, Joe dislikes.
